ATTENTION: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING USER INFORMATION & CARE GUIDE. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE INFORMATION SET OUT BELOW WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.

INSERTING ISS STRINGERS

Always check that the stringer shaft, rubber O-ring and male and female thread parts are clean, dry and free from sand and other particles before insertion.

Insert the ISS key into the stringer keyhole and slowly push the stringer into the chamber until you feel firm resistance. Slow insertion will allow the air within the cavity to equalize. Fast insertion of the stringer can create pressure and burst the internal sleeve.

Turn the key clockwise to lock the stringer in place. The ISS key is made from a fiber-reinforced polymer and is designed to flex/ bend when full lock of the stringer is achieved. Over tightening past the lock point will damage and strip the thread.

INSTALLING LEASH PLUG

Drill hole for leash plug minimum 5cm (2”) left or right of board vertical centerline only. Drilling too close to board vertical centerline will result in puncturing the ISS internal sleeve.

REMOVING ISS STRINGERS

Insert the key into the slot and turn the key anticlockwise to unlock the stringer. After 5 full rotations gently pull the key upwards to remove the stringer.

IMPORTANT INFO

  • The ISS internal components have a tight tolerance so as to minimize rattling and this causes some resistance when you insert and remove the stringers. Always slowly insert and remove stringers.
  • SoftFlex ISS stringers have a slightly thicker OD (outside diameter) than the other stringers 16.45mm OD vs 16.15mm OD. Therefore you will feel a bit more resistance when inserting and removing the SoftFlex stringers.
  • A small amount of water can enter the ISS chamber during use. This doesn’t effect the board as its contained within the chamber and wont migrate to the core.
  • We recommend removing the stringer and cleaning the system with fresh water after each surf session. Otherwise salt can build up around the end thread and freeze the stringer, making it difficult to unlock.
  • Use only authentic ISS keys to lock and unlock ISS stringers. Do not use screwdrivers or other foreign objects.
  • Use only authentic ISS stringers. Do not insert improvised stiffeners into the stringer cavity.
  • Regularly inspect stringers for pressure cracks and fractures. Never use cracked or damaged stringers.
  • Do not leave stringers locked in place during air travel.
  • Be careful not to drop stringers onto hard surfaces.

Only use the correct size stringer for your board length:

  • Small - 37.5" - 39.25"
  • Medium - 39.5" - 41.25"
  • Large - 41.5" - 43.25"
  • X Large - 43.5" - 45.25"
